Location - Newcastle & The Hunter Region

Located at the mouth of the Hunter River, Newcastle is located ~2 hours north of Sydney on Australia’s east coast. Newcastle is the 2nd largest city in New South Wales, and Australia’s 3rd oldest city. Perched between some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches (our best kept secret!) and one of the world’s busiest working harbours, Newcastle is a vibrant cosmopolitan city, with a rich maritime history, vibrant arts culture, eclectic boutiques, acclaimed restaurants and a lively café culture.

A 45 minute drive inland from the conference venue will take you to the Hunter Valley, home to some of Australia’s (and the world’s) best vineyards.

A 40 minute drive north from the conference venue, up the Australian coast, will take you to Port Stephens, home to picturesque waterways and whale/dolphin watching cruises. May is Humpback whale season!

Newcastle enjoys a temperate climate - in May expect average temperatures between 12 - 20 ºC.
